BY JAMES HARPER, DAYTONA TIMES: Occupy Daytona Beach is getting behind the Trayvon Martin movement and is planning a protest Monday, March 26, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the corner of International Speedway Boulevard and Beach Street in Daytona Beach.

alt“Show the world we are all Trayvon,” said one of the organizers of the group who identified himself as Chris on the group’s Facebook page.

Chris said all of those planning to participate in the protest are urged to wear a hoodie.

Seventeen-year-old Martin was wearing a hoodie at an apartment complex in Sanford on Feb. 26 when he was shot and killed by George Zimmerman, a member of a neighbood watch in the area where Martin was visiting relatives.

“A Black person in a hoodie isn’t automatically ‘suspicious.’ Let’s put an end to racial profiling,” said Chris, who is calling on people to sign a petition started by the parents of Trayvon.

The petition can be accessed at www.change.org/petitions/prosecute-the-killer-of-our-son-17-year-old-trayvon-martin.
