Youngsters take time for fun at new 24-hour center

BY ASHLEY THOMAS, DAYTONA TIMES: Spring may have officially sprung March 20, but youngsters already have been enjoying the 80-degree weather during one of Daytona Beach’s warmest winters on record.

altThe youngsters were among 50 residents who came out to the grand opening of Lakesha Green’s 24-hour daycare center and Voluntary Pre-Kindergartner’s “Cradles of Greatness” program on Saturday, something she said she came up with 10 years ago.

On the day of the grand opening, Green says she “had three kids sign up this morning and on my second day here I had six enroll.”

“I want anyone to know who has ever been discouraged or rejected to use it as a stepping stone to do whatever it is that they want,” she continued. “I went through a lot to get my own business and now that I have it, I know why I went through what I went through.”

When asked how she broke into the business she says simply “God did it,” explaining that she had a passion for working with children for 13 years and her dream has come to fruition.
