Volusia Magazine – Frank Bruno, Volusia’s first elected chair, looks back on his eight years in office during a retrospect event

Frank Bruno, Volusia’s first elected county chair, and members of the Volusia County Council looked back on eight years of county progress during a retrospect event in front of a packed Ocean Center August 27. This week’s Volusia Magazine will be devoted entirely to the retrospect event.

Bruno is wrapping up his second four-year term as the county chair, the maximum number of consecutive terms allowed by the Volusia County Home Rule Charter.  The retrospect event highlighted milestones including the expansion of the Ocean Center and Deltona Regional Library, development of the new Emergency Operations and Sheriff’s Communications Center, groundbreaking for SunRail’s DeBary station, expansion of the county’s trails system, the ongoing beach safety initiative, consolidation of countywide 9-1-1 dispatch services, and the addition of EVAC ambulance to the county’s services. Bruno also presented the county’s annual community leadership award to Hyatt and Cici Brown, honoring them for decades of civic leadership and volunteerism.

Volusia Magazine airs Sunday (September 2) at 5 p.m. and repeats Monday (September 3) at 7:30 p.m. on WDSC-TV15.  To watch Channel 15, turn your television to UHF channel 15 or consult your cable television listings.  All cable television stations in Volusia County carry WDSC TV-15.
