Roc the Mic series returns to BCU, Roland Martin to speak

Staff Reports - Roland Martin will take the stage at Bethune-Cookman University to take part in the school’s “Roc the Mic” series Wednesday.

The radio personality, journalist and television personality announced to his over 150 thousand Twitter followers of his visit to the school saying:
“All of Bethune Cookman & Daytona Beach, Fla! I’m speaking Wednesday
night at 7 pm to kick off the Roc The Mic Lecture Series!
#bringthefunk.”

Exposure for students
“This event allows our students to be exposed to various intellectuals and bring the campus and local community together,” said Dr. Dwuan Warmack, Vice President of Student Affairs and compiler of the series.

Warmack said the seats are first come, first serve, open to the public and no tickets are needed.

Martin will focus on the importance of voting at the event scheduled for tonight, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center on the campus of Bethune-Cookman University, 640 Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Blvd., Daytona Beach.

Future series of the monthly “Roc the Mic” event will focus on Martin Luther King Jr. and civic duty responsibilities in January, Black History Month in February, and Women’s issues in March.
