Midtown continues December celebration

Five-year-old Narae Ivey and dad Hemis Ivey (shown on the front page) were one of the many people who attended the “Light Up Midtown” tree lighting event held Saturday at Daisy Stocking Park. Other events to take place during Midtown’s celebration throughout December include:

• A Christmas parade, on Dec. 8 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Boulevard between Daytona Mall and Charles Street.
• A step show, Dec. 15 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Daisy Stocking Park.
• A “Christmas in Songs’’ event hosting local choirs and other talents geared toward the holiday spirit, Dec. 22 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Daisy Stocking Park.
