Volusia County residents who need temporary assistance to maintain affordable housing may apply for assistance through the county’s Community Assistance Division. Preliminary applications for the Tenant-Based Rental Assistance (TBRA) program will be available April 26 and 27 online only at www.volusia.org/rentalassistance.
The federally funded program is designed to help low-income individuals and families afford housing costs such as rent and utility deposits. Persons who are already participating in the county’s TBRA or Family Self-Sufficiency program may be eligible for a preference.
Applicants’ household income may not exceed $22,080 for one person, $25,200 for two persons, $28,380 for three persons, $31,500 for four persons, $34,020 for five persons, $36,540 for six persons, $39,060 for seven persons, or $41,580 for eight persons.
Eligible families will be required to pay at least 30 percent of their household income toward their contract rent.
Completed applications with supportive documentation of preferences must be postmarked on or before May 4 and will be accepted only by U.S. mail. They should be addressed to Volusia County Community Assistance, 110 W. Rich Ave., DeLand, FL 32720.
Disabled people who require an accommodation to apply for the program may contact Paula Szabo at 386-736-5955 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
