Community greets Greater Friendship pastor, wife

Dr. Michael A. Chambers and his wife, Lizzie, received a warm welcome from the Daytona Beach community the evening of June 30 during a Meet and Greet held at Bethune-Cookman University.

Chambers is the new pastor of Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. Chambers, who moved from Baltimore, Maryland, started pastoring Greater Friendship in May.

He has pastored churches in Maryland, Mississippi and Georgia. Chambers also is the former vice president of the United Baptist College and Seminary in Baltimore.

An Army veteran of Operation Desert Storm, Chambers received his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Faulkner University, Montgomery, Ala. He earned a Master of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and his doctorate from United Theological Seminary, Dayton, Ohio.

Chambers is the father of four children – Nicholas, Nykia, Aja and Sean.
