Boys & Girls Club members meet NASCAR driver

NASCAR driver

A group of youngsters from the Boys & Girls Club of Volusia/Flagler Counties members recently got a chance to meet a NASCAR driver at Jackie Robinson Ballpark.

The ballpark is home of the Daytona Tortugas’ minor league baseball team. The youth were invited by Wall Automotive Group and the Tortugas for a special meet and greet with NASCAR driver Chase Elliott.

Through tears of happiness and excitement, Will L., an 11-year-old member from the Oretha Bell/New Smyrna Beach Boys & Girls Club called it “the best day ever.’’

Will is an avid racecar fan who knows just about everything there is to know about Chase Elliott.

Elliott, who drives for Hendrick Motorsports, was named the most popular driver in the NASCAR cup series in 2018.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Volusia/Flagler Counties provides services to more than 1,400 members annually in eight club locations (Daytona Beach, Palm Coast, DeLand, Lake Helen, Holly Hill, Deltona, New Smyrna Beach, and Edgewater.
