Johnson to leave Atlantic
Atlantic High school is losing its boys basketball head coach. Jimmy Johnson is leaving the school.
Johnson informed the school’s administration that he will leave at the end of the school year.
The coach feels that it’s time to move on despite the good times he had here.
“I have enjoyed my time here. It has been a wonderful place to be but at sometime you feel that it is time to move on and do something else,” commented Johnson.
In five seasons at Atlantic, Johnson has led the Sharks to a 110-47 record including blank playoff appearances. This year the Sharks finished with a 14-12 record and Johnson picked up his 300th win while coaching the team this year. In 16 seasons Johnson has 305 total wins.
“We have had some good seasons here, I’ve got to coach some great players in CJ Reed and Darius Hall which was definitely high points in my career,” said Johnson.
Johnson is looking forward to the challenges ahead at his next school; he has a few offers on the table.
“I haven’t decided where yet. Wherever I go it will be difficult to get players to do things the way that I want them to when they are accustomed to doing things different. It will be an adjustment period to go through. They will have to change and so will I,” added Johnson.
