Lady Wildcats win MEAC crown

The Lady Wildcats of Bethune-Cookman, new MEAC champs, have earned an automatic trip to the NCAA Tournament.

The Bethune-Cookman University Lady Wildcats (22-5, 14-1) have won 14 games straight after handling North Carolina Central 70-55 on Monday.

Amaya Scott (14 points, 10 rebounds, 2 blocks) and Ashanti Hunt (10 points, 5 steals) led a balanced B-CU attack.

The win gave the Wildcats the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) regular season crown outright and top seed for the MEAC Tournament (March 9-14). It’s their fourth regular season title in the past five years.

The winner of the MEAC Tournament earns an automatic trip to the NCAA Tournament. The Wildcats won it last year and made their first NCAA Tournament appearance.

B-CU hosts rival Florida A&M on Thursday, March 4, in the regular season finale.
