Libraries introduce Miss Humblebee’s Academy

A shoutout to teachers

Students are finding creative ways to show appreciation for their teachers. Katherine Peguero and her daughter, Isabelle, hold up a poster on Dunn Street in Daytona Beach on April 3 to show their support for teachers at Palm Terrace Elementary School where Isabelle is a student. Volusia County Schools’ distance learning plan is scheduled to continue through May 1 because of COVID-19.

There’s a new website that can help parents get their children ready for kindergarten, and Volusia County Public Library card holders can access it free.

Miss Humblebee’s Academy is an award-winning, online and offline curriculum that prepares children 3 to 6 for kindergarten proficiency. It offers hundreds of programs and activities in math, art, music, language and literacy, science and social studies.

By creating a profile for each child, parents can track a child’s progress and access developmental milestone lists.

The service is accessible on home computers, tablets and smartphones. It’s free to card holders through www.volusialibrary.org.
