Argentina native Alberto Palmetta and New York native TreSean Wiggins are preparing for a WBA International Title fight on Aug. 15 at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach. The fight is scheduled for 10 rounds and will be televised live on TyC Sports International as the first fight in the Payne Boxing Series.
Payne Boxing and TyC Sports reached an agreement in June to establish the Payne Boxing Series. The series will consist of six professional fights throughout the year and will showcase some of the best boxers in the world. There will also be at least one title fight on each show.
Christy Martin Promotions is promoting the event. TyC Sports reaches 20 million households in South and Central America, the Caribbean and the United States.
Palmetta is coming off a big TKO victory over previously undefeated fighter Erik Vega Ortiz (16-1) on ShowBox last November. Palmetta is a former Olympian from Argentina
who lives and trains at the Payne Boxing camp in Fort Lauderdale.
Wiggins is from Newburgh, New York, and is coming off two draws against two opponents with a combined 28 wins and one loss.
The card will have 13 total fights. Francisco Torres (14-3) will fight Cleotis Pendarvis (21-5-2) in the Co-Main event for the WBA FedaLatin Super Welterweight Title.
